Literary Music

Literary Music was formed in 2011 at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama in London, where Soprano Rosie Lomas and Harpsichordist Katarzyna Kowalik trained. Made up of singers, actors and instrumentalists the group put together fascinating and entertaining programmes of music and words, inspired by literary figures, complete with period costumes designed and made by Costumier Beth Lomas.

Literary Music have performed at events such as the Jane Austen Festival in Bath (September 2011 and 2012) and Jane Austen's Birthday celebrations (December 2014). Performance venues have included the Jane Austen Centre (December 2011), Bollington Festival (May 2014), Tabley House (May 2015) and The Forge in Camden (March 2014). Literary Music are also regularly booked to give lecture recitals for Jane Austen Societies and Elizabeth Gaskell Society meetings and conferences. In February 2012 they featured on BBC1's Masterchef as the entertainment at a Regency banquet.

Literary Music have also recently joined in collaboration with An Evening With Jane Austen joining Adrian Lukis (Mr Wickham from the BBC Pride & Prejudice) and Caroline Langrishe in a celebratory event for Jane Austen's Birthday (December 2014).

“Your performance was just perfect for the evening. You have a beautiful voice and the bit of chat in between the songs was excellent.”   Jackie Herring, Festival Director at The Jane Austen Festival
